  • Shut down your PC, power it on again, and shut it down forcefully after the manufacturer's logo appears. Do this 3 or more times - until your PC boots into the Startup Repair screen.
  • In the Automatic Repair page, click on “Advanced options” and go to “Troubleshoot.”
  • In the “Troubleshoot” page, click on Advanced Options and select “Command Prompt.”
  • When the command prompt opens, type diskpart and hit the Enter key.
  • Type list disk and hit the Enter key.
  • Again, type select disk # (Note: # represents the disk number you want to select).
  • Type select vol # (the volume to select here is the FAT32 formatted volume, which is usually around 100 - 250MB - it is the EFI/UEFI partition).
  • Assign a new drive letter to the volume by typing assign letter=V:
  • To exit Diskpart, type exit.
  • Close the command prompt window, return to the “Troubleshoot” window and click “Continue” to boot your PC.

How To Protect/Recover Your Data

One thing is paramount, many PC users have been faced with one data loss scenario or the other. It could be data loss due to malware attack, mistake deletion, OS or HDD crash, corrupted folder, or many other possible data loss situations. Thus, it is important to plan ahead, which implies protecting your important data (files and documents) by creating a disk image file. A disk image file is a more advanced alternative to regular backups created by file backup software apps. Disk images are more like a clone of your hard disk, a virtual version of your hard disk containing everything you have inside the disk. This way, your data is well secure and safe to recovery in the case of data loss.

To create a disk image, you need DiskInternals Partition Recovery. It is a professional software program developed for Windows OS users. DiskInternals Partition Recovery runs on all versions and editions of Windows OS, and it also supports virtually all known file system formats. Furthermore, asides from helping you to create disk images any time, for free, this software program is also a professional data recovery solution, capable of retrieving lost data from any storage drive/devices (both internal and external). It supports all file formats, including docs, ppt, mp4, mp3, png, jpg, etc. You can also preview recovered files before saving them back to your system.

A built-in Wizard helps to put you through the recovery process. The wizard is super-intuitive and makes the software usable, even by non-IT persons. There are three data recovery modes supported by DiskInternals Partition Recovery and they all deliver efficient results. It is simply a comprehensive solution for data backup and recovery needs.
