What are system recovery options?

These are preinstalled tools to recover your system in case of damage.

There are several of these tools, and depending on the situation, you can choose one or many to use to restore the system yourself, without resorting to the help of professionals. Here are the tools you can use in the Windows system recovery options:

  1. 1. System Startup Repair. This option can be used if you encounter errors during computer startup. It automatically scans the disk and fixes possible errors.
  1. 2. System Restore. This option can be used if System Restore has been enabled and a restore point has been created. In this case, the computer will be restored to the previous restore point.
  1. 3. Windows Vista Full PC Recovery or Windows 7 System Image Restore.
  1. 4. Memory Diagnostic Tool.
  1. 5. Command Prompt. You can use special commands to perform various tasks to fix system errors (such as bootrec or diskpart).

If you don't see any of these tools, you can access them from the original installation CD/DVD or USB drive.

You can also check if your system recovery options are set:

Click on the Power button and, as soon as the system information appears on the screen, press the F8 key until the Windows logo appears. Next, on the Advanced Boot Options menu, make sure you have the “Repair computer” option listed. If it is, select it and, in a new window, you can see what tools are available to you.

System recovery options in Windows 7

Let's take a look at the features of the recovery options in Windows 7.

There are two ways to access these options:

  1. 1. If the system recovery options for Windows 7 are installed on your PC: Turn off your computer and press the Power button. Then press F8 several times until the system logo appears. Once the Advanced Boot Options menu appears, select the “Repair computer” section. Then press the Enter key and access the system recovery options.
  1. 2. If the Windows 7 system recovery options are not installed on the PC: Boot from the original installation CD/DVD. During the download, select the required options (date, time, etc.) and click Next. Then press the R key and you will see the system recovery options.

System recovery options in Windows 10

Recovery tools in Windows 10 can be found under Troubleshooting -> Advanced Options.

There are several ways to restore your computer:

  • Refresh
  • Reset

There are also a few more tools in the Advanced Options panel:

  • Command Prompt
  • UEFI Firmware Settings
  • System Image Restore
  • Automatic Repair
  • System Restore
  • Windows Startup Settings

If your computer cannot boot normally, you should boot from the installation disk. In this case, insert the disk and restart the computer. When the installation screen appears, click the Next button, and then the R key.

To update the system, do the following:

Move the mouse pointer to the upper right-hand corner of the screen; when you see the "Settings" button, click on it. Next, click on “Change computer settings”, then select the “Update and Restore” option. Activate the "Update your computer without affecting files" section. Now click the Start button. The Wizard will help you complete the update.

You can reset the system as follows:

Open the "Settings" window and select “Change PC settings”. Then click on “Update and Restore”, then select Recovery.

Go to the section "Remove everything and reinstall Windows" and click "Start". After the process completes, all of your personal files will be deleted; remember this.

Recovery options for Windows 7, 8, and 10

DiskInternals Partition Recovery can quickly and painlessly recover data in case of any logical errors. It uses a deep disk scanning process and can recover a large amount of information (up to 1 PB). This application recovers all possible file formats: music, documents, images, videos, etc. The application works even with damaged file systems, including HFS, ReFS, NTFS, XFS, Ext2/3/4, ReiserFS, FAT12, Reiser4, etc. It works with Windows 7, 8, 10, etc., without glitches or ads. There is a fully functional trial version of the application that you can download right now and preview the results for free.

After downloading, proceed to the data recovery process using the Recovery Wizard.

Then click on the desired target disk and select the program mode. In this case, full recovery will be the most useful, but you can choose a quick scan or a view mode.

Sit back; the scan may take some time depending on the size of the disk.

Now select the file you need, press Ctrl + P, and view it completely for free.

As soon as you buy a license you can save your files and export them wherever you choose. Then you can exit the program and enjoy your success.
