Reportedly, the following are also possible causes of the Steam Won’t Launch Any Games issue:

  • Antivirus obstruction.
  • 3rd-party app interference.
  • Missing Visual C++ components.
  • Outdated graphics card drivers.

Make Sure Your Game Progress Is Safe

One of the worst scenarios you'd never want to happen is a scenario where you mistakenly deleted a steam game data, and then you cannot access the game anymore. While such mistakes are not entirely avoidable, you can act proactively by backing up your game progress at intervals. Thus, whenever you mistakenly delete a game's data, you will simply mount the backup and resume playing from where you stopped.

With DiskInternals Partition Recovery, data recovery is fast and straightforward. This software comes with a built-in Wizard that guides you through the recovery steps; thus, even someone with no knowledge of how to operate a computer can easily use DiskInternals Partition Recovery.

How to Fix Steam Games Not Launching

1. Change Your Game Files’ Location

If your Steam game is not launching, try these steps:

  • Launch Steam and go to your game library and select the faulty game.
  • Right-click and select Properties.
  • Navigate to the Local Files tab click on the Browse local files button.
  • Check if the game is installed in the Steam folder.
  • Go to steamapps >>> common >>> the game title.
  • If you can’t open the game folder, verify the integrity to re-download the game to the default location.
  • Afterward, use the Move Install Folder tool to transfer the game to another location.

2. Check Your Drivers

Another possible cause of this error could be your PC drivers. When your drivers are outdated, they could cause several apps and files not to open. So, open Device Manager and update your graphics card driver(s).

3. Examine System Protection

While antivirus apps are actually meant to protect computer systems from contacting malware, sometimes, they stop certain apps from running smoothly. That said, deactivate your antivirus software and try launching the game again.

4. Check GameOverlayRenderer64.dll

According to some people who faced this steam game not working issue, deleting this file - GameOverlayRenderer64.dll - helped to fix the situation. You can try that too.

5. Work With Third-Party Applications

First, verify if your system has the required Visual C++ redistributables to run the game. If they’re missing, install them. After that, head on to update this third-party app - MSI Afterburner. You may also need to disable these apps, Razer Synapse and Logitech Joystick Utility.

6. What About Integrity of the Games?

To check Steam games' integrity, open the library, right-click and go to Properties. Then, click on the Local files tab >>> Verify integrity of game files.

7. Launch the Game in Compatibility Mode

To launch a steam game in compatibility mode, right-click on the game’s .exe file and go to Properties. Click on Compatibility and activate Run this Program in Compatibility Mode.

8. Reinstall the Game(s)

If the issue persists, you should consider reinstalling the problematic games. This usually solved the problem for other users facing this issue.
