  • how DiskInternals Partition Recovery can help you

Are you ready? Let's read!

Change Desktop preferences

The first thing you can do when there is a problem with moving icons on the Windows 10 desktop is to turn off icon alignment.

To do this, right-click an empty space on your desktop and select View. Next, uncheck the "Align icons to grid" checkbox, save your changes and restart your computer.

If this does not help, then try changing the appearance of the icons: right-click an empty space on the desktop and select “View”. Now change the view to any other. Now select Small icons in the view option, and then you will see the changes in the icon on the desktop.

You can also uncheck the "Allow themes to change desktop icons" checkbox: right-click an empty space on your desktop and select one of the Personalize functions. Next, on the “Themes” tab, click "Desktop Icon Settings" and deactivate the "Allow Themes to Change Desktop Icons" option. Save your changes, close all dialog boxes, and restart your computer.

Work with drivers

If the previous solutions did not affect the situation in any way, update the display drivers.

So, press Windows Key + R, in the Run window, type devmgmt.msc and click OK. In the Device Manager dialog box, expand Display Adapters, right-click your Nvidia graphics card and click Enable.

Next, right-click your Nvidia graphics card again and select the Update Driver option, click on Search automatically for updated driver software. Give the system some time to complete the update process.

If that doesn't work, you can select “Update driver” again and click the "Search my computer for drivers" option. Now click “Let me pick” from a list of device drivers on my computer, select a compatible driver for your Nvidia graphics card and click Next to complete the update.

You can also go to the graphics card manufacturer's website and download the latest updates from there.
