After that, click the "Browse" button and select one of the options:

About Backup Tool

If your computer breaks down, a data backup will come in handy. Therefore, this function must be installed on the computer in advance and used in time. Having a copy of your data, you can easily start a system restore, as this process will most likely damage your files.

Backing up your computer can be done in several ways:

  • Using special software for backing up your entire system, which was mentioned above;
  • Copying files to an external drive manually;
  • Uploading your data to a cloud storage service such as OneDrive;
  • Using the built-in backup tool;
  • Create a disk image (this option is free in the DiskInternals Partition Recovery application).

1. Create a System Image

Create a system image using the built-in system imaging tool:

Click the Start button and open the Settings app, then go to the Update & Security tab.

Click "Backup" and select the "Create a system image" option and customize the disk image to your liking:

Select the drive to back up, additional hard drives to include in the backup, and additional drivers to include in the backup

Finally, click the "Start backup" button and wait for the completion of this slow process.

However, you can continue to work with the device, as the "Shadow Copy" option is automatically activated to back up files, even if applications are running.

After completing the system image creation, you can remove the external drive and store it until you need it.

2. Restore OS Using its Image

If you happen to need to use a disk image (bad sectors, hard disk failure, system failure, etc.), do the following:

Connect the drive with the disk image to your computer, and then plug in the Windows 10, 11 bootable USB drive.

Start the system, press any key to continue.

On the “Install Windows” page; Click "Next.

Next, click the" Repair your computer "button and select the" Troubleshoot "option, then you need to click on the Advanced Startup Troubleshooting Option. Select the system image recovery option and select Windows 10, 11 as the target OS. Then select the last available image system and click "Next".

  • The "Format and repartition the disk" lets you restore a backup to the new disk.
  • The "restore only system drivers" can be used, if the backup contains a copy of multiple disks and you want to restore only the operating system.

Do not under any circumstances interrupt the recovery process, as this may lead to a failure of the backup and boot of the device as a whole. If you are using a laptop, it is recommended to connect it to a power source in time.

After the recovery process is completed, open "Settings", go to "Update and Security" and select the "Update Center for Windows ". Click the Check for Updates button and install any missing updates to keep your system secure.

Backup external disk
